Prod with a sharp stick

Post by Vox Americana »

With a wonderful start to the music for download area, it now seems to have hit a 4-way stop. Can any of the powers that be tell me what the development plan is?

Please sir, can I have some more?

I would love to give you some more, VA. In fact, I have bundled my suggestions off to the powers that be (as I am not the Music Editor) from the Composers' Group archives going back to about 2000. I am well known for my nagging, but on this occasion, I thank you for doing some nagging on my behalf. I wouldn't recommend prodding with a sharp stick.

Don't hold your breath: once the music has been selected, we then have to ask the composers' and text writers' permission, typeset as necessary, format into readable and playable forms and upload. It takes time........

Out of interest, what do people use for typesetting their music?

I use both Noteworthy http://www.noteworthysoftware.com/ (easy to use, fair quality output, relatively inexpensive shareware) and
lilypond http://www.lilypond.org/web/ (difficult to use, beautiful output, free).
It's not a generation gap, it's a taste gap.

Hurray, Dunstan. NoteWorthy is great, and cheap.
