Burse

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Burse

Post by organist »

I went to the excellent Opus Anglicanum exhibition at the Victoria and Albert. Anyone who loves vestments should go. There is one cope from Arundel and Brighton which is just fabulous and a beauty from the Vatican. However a Burse was described as a purse. I have informed the V and A what it really is in liturgical terms. Of course in the mediaeval period it may have been a purse but to carry what? Money? I think it must have been for the corporal and patten? Do go and see it! And when there visit the fabulous mediaeval section definitely the best in the world! :D
