If you want to speed things on, folks, come to the meetings, get some great music presented - and then email [email protected] to ask the people who control the website content when it will happen.

Do we want a repository where we can exchange music, maybe even finding those psalms that Music and Liturgy's Liturgy Planner annoyingly says "No through setting has been found for this psalm..."?

The more we say we want it - the greater the support that is demonstrated - the more it is likely to get a priority!

Interesting idea - would such a repository be secure against music theft? What would the music 'access' format be?

It may be a familiar site to many SSG members, but I wonder whether it's a format we could use?

I'm not very good at reading/writing music, and working out a tune is a painstaking process for me, working out what all the little dots sound like, depending on what the key is. Timing is quite difficult too, especially where syllables 'slur' across bars.

To help me, I use the freebee Finale Notepad software package, which has an audio playback facility, so you can learn the tune. Absolutely brilliant, and all for nothing - God bless the people at Coda/Finale Music for their generosity.

Anyway, I've got quite a few songs all scored up like this. Would they be any use to any members? It's still quite a laborious process if you've got to score it yourself. Would a repository for these sort of files be allowed on the SSG website, so we could all contribute? Other people offer midi files on the web, but I guess there may be copyright issues?

We're hoping so, Sid. It's in the hands of higher authorities than me. As soon as it is available, I shall be making good use of it.
