Mission accomplished.
we are singing the Holy Holy from the German Mass. It has taken about 6 weeks. Soon, they will think they have always sung this. By January I think. My next project, singing it in parts. I was trying to get it done for Christmas but have to set it back a bit.
Also, we are doing the Gordon Rock Lamb of God, (Celebration for All) which seems so familiar that I wonder if we used to sing it....... that has taken three weeks plus me stomping down from the organ loft to support the singing of it. But today it went well. I had to do a panto of "looking at the Mass sheet" to get across that it is on the sheet not in the hymn book. But it is great that we have made this much progress. No more 664 for our Sunday service! The Gloria may be more problematic.
Thanks for all your encouragement. And Summer School.

Well done oops. I think your experience is more typical than that which our journalistic friend reports elsewhere. Rather than us inflicting poor music on the congregation, it actually takes a considerable effort to wean them off it!

thread
and so sad
Someone in our parish, (she sings from the heart) asked me why we never sing "Sanctus"?
So I explained that Father will not let me, and that he stopped me last time I began to play it and it was embarrassing. Thinking Misa de Angelis.
Then the penny dropped, she does not know that the Holy Holy is the Sanctus in English. We sing it every week now. Oh dear oh dear oh dear.
