The introduction of new Responsorial Psalm texts last year gives composers an opportunity not simply to compose new settings (and issue revised versions of old ones) but to develop new techniques. I am quite certain that this genre could be developed enormously; and the results should be made available not just to other composers, but to performers. The Composers Forum provides one venue; but by definition this tends to have limited circulation. More importantly there are the restrictions imposed by copyright. This is because a new setting that has not been copyright approved can only be circulated in one parish.
Nonetheless can anyone point people in the direction of settings using new techniques on the internet that have been copyright approved?
Is there any technical literature or papers describing and discussing new techniques? Should not something on these lines be published in the next issue of Music and Liturgy?
