Sung grace

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Sung grace

Post by Alan »

I have been asked to suggest some sung graces, capable of being sung without too much preparation by attendees at a conference. I don't think they will all be accomplished musicians. In the past, I have encountered some useful rounds that have worked well, but I can't recall them now.

Any suggestions, along with information about where to find them, would be very gratefully received.

Guiding has always used sung graces before meals. These are available in their song books.

There is one in Paul Inwood's Ritual Moments book, published by GIA (available from Decani). We sang this (with some mirth) at summer school 2 years ago.

LOL, Monty! What a fantastic page. I particularly enjoyed, "We thank the brown cow for the chocolate milk"

I was at an occasion recently where we used the Superman grace. With actions, whatever your age.

Sung grace

Ar the Methodist musicians annual conference, everyone sings a verse of a hymn as a grace in glorious harmony! "Guide me O thou great Redeemer" with its line about Bread of heaven was particularly suitable. Also "Immortal invisible" and "Praise my soul".
I well remember a group of Catholic choristers not knowing "Praise God form whom all blessings flow" to Old 100th!
"Lord of all hopefulness" would be excellent! :)
