Noting the perennial interest in the "Music for Weddings" thread and the positive response to the sample booklet I recently posted (see this thread) it set me wondering...
Would there be mileage in SSG producing (perhaps in collaboration with one of the UK Catholic publishers) a Wedding Planner Brochure with CD-ROM included?
With the new Missal and the NRSV lectionary now clearly on the horizon, the publication could include
* NRSV Readings to browse in the brochure (with texts on the CD-ROM to print for readers to practice, but a suggestion not to print them in order of service)
* A selection of psalms with samples (one verse?) to listen to on the CD-ROM
* A selection of wedding hymns with samples (one verse?) to listen to on the CD-ROM
* A suggestion of easy-to-pick-up Mass parts for a one-off congregation (possibilities will become clearer over the next year, hopefully)
* CD-ROM templates for Mass and Non-Mass wedding Orders of Service
Could this project be a runner?

Re: Wedding Planner Publication?
What are these CD-ROM things of which you speak?
Seriously - a publication like that sounds like a fantastic resource, but with the number of weddings it would probably need to survive for quite a while (I'm thinking 5-10 years) to pay for itself, by which time CD-ROM's will probably be like floppy disks are now.
An on-line resource with links to YouTube (or whatever) videos of music samples, however, might be more viable. And it's a lot more readily update-able, and avoids some of the production and distribution costs.

Re: Wedding Planner Publication?
Many thanks for the suggestion Fr Gareth. I will raise it at the next SSG meeting of trustees and report back.

Other people's links come and go like straw in the wind... so it would have to be a menu of links (or better, documents and music files) hosted on the SSG server. Question is, how do we limit access (if we want to) to those who have bought the planner?
