Joining the Society of St Gregory

You can join or renew membership of the Society of St Gregory online.

Members of the Society receive the specialist journal Music & Liturgy three times a year, including the liturgy planner, Preparing the Liturgy. Members also enjoy a discounted rate for Summer School and other SSG courses and events online and in person.

Types of membership

You can join the Society as an individual member, as a married couple or partner, or take out a group membership.

Individual membership

Individual membership is available for UK residents, either as individuals or married couples/partners.  Those in full-time education or age 65+ can apply for the concession rate. There are rates for individuals resident in Europe or elsewhere in the world.

Membership for partners

Married couples and partners may take out a joint membership at either Standard or Concession Membership rate. Both partners will be members. You will receive one copy of Music & Liturgy. Both will be able to take advantage of the members’ rate for Summer School and other events.

Group membership

Parishes, schools and other groups are eligible for Group Membership.  Group membership offers the advantage of receiving multiple copies of the journal, Music & Liturgy, which you can distribute between your parish/school’s  musicians, readers, and other ministries. Small group members receive three copies of Music & Liturgy; medium groups receive five copies; and large groups, ten copies; delivered to one UK address. Group membership includes one place at Summer School at the member rate. Just take out the appropriate individual subscription and let us know that you are a couple ([email protected]).

Renewing your membership

If you pay your annual membership by Standing Order, please remember to change the amount online or send your bank a new Standing Order which reflects the 2025 membership rates.  Thank you.

Financial hardship

If you are keen to join the Society of St Gregory but would struggle to pay some or all of the membership cost, please get in touch with the Membership Secretary ([email protected]). The Society has always tried to retain the widest membership and funds may be available to support your membership.

The McElligott Fund

The McElligott Fund was established in honour of Dom Bernard McElligott, founder the Society of St Gregory in 1929. The fund assists members, usually students or the unwaged, who would otherwise not be able to participate in Summer School and other events. If you are able to make a contribution to the McElligott Fund when you take out or renew membership, please add it to your payment details. Thank you for your generosity.
