Presbyter, if you must post in Armenian, please provide an English translation.

Are we (the forum) in hibernation for the winter?

Hmmmm - δουλοσ - manservant - δουλη - maidservant - and presumably for the (possibly overweight) Ethiopian catechised by Philip - δουλον - I give up!

I was getting there! Got as far as we are and hibernation... My friend Google, who usually helps with translating from languages I don't speak, wasn't co-operating over the rest of it, so I was (shock horror) going to have to look it up in a book. But Mr Bear's in charge round here, and oddly, he doesn't seem to take kindly to talk of hibernation. I'm beginning to think he's not a real bear.

Google not very good at Armenian, nor twenty of the thirty-two languages spoken across the range of the children in the parish primary school ..... no, no ... that went up to thirty-three today .... Latvian was added. I suppose the LMS would suggest I celebrated all school Masses in Latin ...... no-one would understand.

I trust that you would.

Really? Presbyter is evidently a prodigious polyglot, but even he, I imagine, might falter over the readings, antiphons, Prayer over the Gifts, and what have you, at first hearing. It would take some pretty amazing school kids to do any better. Giving them a Mass all in Latin would give them a powerful signal that it doesn't matter what we're talking or singing about as long as it's pretty.

Never mind in Latin - I'm going to do the above with the revised English (whenever we get it).

Good luck, mate! What will you do when you find you can't actually pray these texts, or perhaps even believe in them?

Can somebody please tell me what this thread is all about?
I doubt it.

Re: question for mcb??
It's about certain regular contributors (ably and linguistically led by Presbyter) noticing that nothing much has happened on this forum for as long as I can remember and making something happen. I had assumed that there was something wrong withe site, and have been spending too much time comparing meerkats (about which, more news soon) to have time to post.
