Mysterium Fidei

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Mysterium Fidei

Post by FrGareth »

I note that the 2002 edition of the Missale Romanum includes 3 options for the people's response to "Msyterium Fidei".

The first one is the traditional one. Any ideas where (preferably web) I might find musical settings of the other two (given that I don't have immediate access to a full Latin Tome of the Missale 2002)?

No musical settings yet exist, only the texts. A friend of mine has seen someone's setting of Quotiescumque using an adaptation of the Mortem tuam music (which is, after all, itself adapted from the Te Deum tone), but didn't seem terribly impressed with it. Perhaps you could make your own version for both texts while waiting for whoever does these things in Rome/Solesmes/wherever to provide something for what will presumably be an updated version of the Ordo Cantus Missae.

The attached setting is taken from the current Latin Ambrosian Missal - which may be useful. As it seems I am unable to post a pdf version - this can be found here http://www.liturgyoffice.org.uk/Resources/Music/Jubilate/index.shtml

Many thanks Martin - so many good things on the liturgy office website, I haven't plumbed the depths of its riches yet!
