Scary moments?

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Yep

young keyboard player doing his first public perf. so nervous he all but wrecked the pre Vigil Carols and we had to slow down to try to get in with what bits he was managing to play. But we are all still alive. So it can't have been terminal.

Not scary exactly but as I arrived for 'Midnight' - actually 6.30pm, but at least it was dark, so qualifies as night - the deacon mentioned in passing that 'a lady had phoned up saying she'd like to play the organ for the Christmas Day Mass'. Apparently she has played for 40 years and didn't want to break the tradition. So... I was a tad apprehensive, but made myself think of it as a possible gift; after all the person who was originally due to play would on the whole rather not play so she could sit with her family at Christmas, so she was happy.

Anyway, all was well, and she turned out to be a woman after my own heart, who'd rather jump in and 'do' than sit back and complain, and we got on well. I also advertised Summer School to her, and she said she'd always meant to get there, so, who knows, it might have been the gentle shove that gets her to fill in the form!

The son who was due to help me got a dose of food poisoning, so I had to do it all myself. It was hard work, but at least Dad got a reasonable size bit of Christmas pud. The son is recovered now and promising to do Holy Family.
