How to fund your new parish hymnbook

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

How to fund your new parish hymnbook

Post by John Ainslie »

Here is the bright idea of my PP to fund Laudate for my parish.

You invite parishioners to donate a copy in memory of someone - anyone they like. Copies can be donated for a pew or a melody or an organ edition at the cost price rounded up to the nearest pound. They write the name of the someone on an envelope and put the required money in the envelope and post it in the presbytery letterbox.

Come the hymnbooks and the parish secretary types (word-processes) a nice bookplate for each 'memory' and sticks it in the hymnbook before putting it out for use. I've not yet seen anyone searching for 'their' hymnbook.

That wheeze looked after £2,500 of the c. £3,000 bill. QED.
