I've been researching the Gelineau tones, and can now sing the invitatory psalm to myself daily, and I've bookmarks to help me sing Sunday psalms for week one of the psalter. It's a shame I can't find an equivalent for the canticle from Daniel 3 that's part of the same morning prayer.
Has anyone cracked this?
I'd like to find something similar for the magnificat and benedictus as well, in the translations in the divine office. Suggestions?
Thanks for any help and guidance.

I know the Gelineau Magnificat, which we sang at evening prayer when I was at university.
Never saw a tune written down then but I've just found it in "Lectionary Psalms" Grail/Gelineau 3rd ed published by GIA, 3rd Sunday of Advent A- just the verses straight through. Its also in Hymns O&N no. 661. We did this when we did evening prayer in the parish in the week before Christmas and the few who came picked it up quickly enough.
Don't know a chant setting of the Benedictus- we weren't so good at mornings as students (still not great now!)

If it's the Gelineau you are after, I think you need to find all three volumes (Blue, Red and Gold lettering in thte titles) of the first editions that came out in this country. The 'Blue" is called 24 Psalms and a Canticle ... but without digging through my pile of music here, I can't remember off hand the titles of the others.
I'll have a look for you tomorrow.
Thanks for the suggestions. I've tried the Catholic Central library index to try to find the Hymns Old and New and they don't! And I know they don't have those Gelineau books you mention. I've seen O&N when visiting other churches on caravan outings, but of course, only the words edition.
As part of the older generation I find it annoying that so few people read music - standard five line stave- and the expectation is that no one can. I'm well aware that the focus for music in schools now is for the children to display the ability to compose, so why do they need to read music already written ? (teeth are grinding). I have one daughter )of 2), thankfully, who can read music (plays violin) but even in the extra music classes now popular to help schools comply with PPA time rules, they are expected to sing by copying, rather than using music.
I'll be guilty of ranting if I say anything about standards of tunefulness.

Amazingly gifted 2 year old you have!
Aah. One daughter out of two daughters. She's aged 10 now, started playing age 5. Happily played along with me on organ playing Chorus from J Maccabeus recently. Not sure how well she could be heard....
