Chant Mass in English

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Chant Mass in English

Post by Reginald »

The link below is to a really simple chant Mass in English - it was linked to from a certain website of a traditional bent that we've all become familiar with. Whilst I would hesitate to endorse without reservation the article that went with it, this seemed such a beautifully simple setting that it might provide an answer to the problem of the 'musicianless Mass' (assuming that with it were to go the chant setting of the Alleluia as found in Jubilate Deo and the sung Doxology). A couple of weeks with a borrowed singer or two and I would have thought that any community could get the hang of singing these.

Thanks, Reginald. There are many other useful and interesting downloads on that website (eg the Exsultet from the 1970 Missal, in Latin). All the music I looked at appears to be in the public domain - something to be aware of if posting here: files that breach copyright law will be taken down.
