News just coming through that Ernie has died. It apppears that, tragically, he took his own life. More details as they become available.
Prayers for his family and friends.
May he rest in peace.

Re: Ernest Sands
Music sung at the funeral service for Ernie last Friday was all by Ernie himself:
Sing of the Lord's goodness
Psalm: I will call upon the Lord and bless his name
One of his Alleluia settings
God of all life, of every earthly blessing (We praise your name)
Song of Farewell: May the choirs of angels

Where was it held?
He was of our diocese and though he was "mentioned in dispatches" since his death there was no other word.
Difficult.

Re: Ernest Sands
Sad indeed.
I remember when he came to Cardiff to lead a dayschool on music in the liturgy; he was funny and informative.
He said "If God has given you a lousy voice, then make sure that He gets to hear it".
May he rest in peace.
