Publishing Music Lists

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Publishing Music Lists

Post by JW »

I'm aware that several members of this forum publish their weekly music lists on the web. I would be very grateful to hear reasons for doing this, or not, and to hear pros and cons. Currently at Rainham, music lists are emailed only to choir members and the PP.

I love it when parishes publish their music lists, and wish many more would do so. It helps to give a flavour of what music to expect, and in my particular case would help me ascertain what parish and which particular mass to gravitate to both locally and when I am travelling.

A real irritation for me is that many parishes don't even tell you which of their masses are sung, have hymns or are said so you have no idea what to expect.

For me it's primarily a place to record what we've done. We have a second page with what we plan to do but that's a tad behind at the moment. Must admit, though, this is a good question.

I publish my (monthly) music list by posting it on the notice board in the porch, on the notice board in the sacristy, on the organ and to individal choir members.

Not quite finalised but much of it was planned in the few days following this year. But that's normal with big feasts – make a note of what works and what doesn't while it's still fresh in the mind!
