Psalms in the New Lectionary

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Psalms in the New Lectionary

Post by Nick Baty »

I know this has been discussed somewhere on the forum – and I remember Southern Comfort offering quite a bit of information – but I can't find it. So apologies for reopening an old topic.

When the new Lectionary is launched, with the latest version of the Grail psalms (view them here), will we be using the same responses we have now, although in the updated translation, or are these being revised?

I suspect that there will be changes - the nature of things seems to suggest that everything is up for review, and some of the responses are taken from the psalms themselves (which will be in new translation) or from other parts of scripture or are not, in fact, 'psalms' at all, in which case, they will be changing as we adopt the RSV translation instead of the Jerusalem Bible. In any event, the last timeline I was given for the new lectionary was 3-6 years!
