I've heard of several options being used in today's liturgy. One parish at which a family member went to Mass had a sprinkling rite at the beginning. Another had a renewal of baptismal promises in place of the Creed.
I would say the the Asperges is probably a good idea today, but renewal of baptismal promises is not licit (in the absence of a baptism taking place). What do people think?
Here, the only thing different was that the font (empty) was placed in the middle of the nave, obstructing the route to communion.

We did the RCIA Rite of Acceptance at 1030 and 1830 Masses. Think we'll probably repeat this as some potential catechumens did not turn up today. We didn't do the exorcisms tody ... will leave this till start of February.
I did also think of sprinkling and renewal of baptismal promises but decided against it when I learned that we also had RCIA rites to observe.

No on second thought we didn't consider renewal of promises for today ... we did for Mother of God (New Year) but then dropped it for the reasons you suggest. We di use the Apostles Creed today however.

Ah - you must possess a flimsy wooden "bird bath" type of font - not the polished great lump of stone as in my own baptistery. Given that Baptism - of necessity - requires water, I do wonder why your font was empty!

It is quite a hefty metal thing (in desperate need of a polish) but certainly portable and a bird bath. I did raise an eyebrow at its apparent lack of water. In fairness the font wasn't strictly empty, there seemed to be various bits of ironmongery within it including a stainless steel tray which may have been hiding some of the wet stuff beneath.
It is not the only eyebrow raising thing about liturgy here
