It's like a novena innit, only with twelve, only some people says it's thirteen like in a Baker's dozen, during Jewish leap years, and the five gold rings, they're like the seven sacraments ain't they? only there's five, and french hens are like the trinity, and the two turtles, they was like the two testaments, and Noah sent them out from the ark, coz it was wet, and the crow found a partridge in a pear tree with an olive sprig, only it was like a dove, and there were these twelve lords, 'cept there wuz thirteen if you count Jesus, and they wuz a-leaping, coz of like in the lord of the riverdance only they wozn't irish, they woz apostolic, and, and....

But we don't know when Jesus was born - neither the year nor the day. It's not so much 'when does Christmas end?' but 'when did Christmas begin?'!

25th March is New Year's Day

That's why the Tax Year begins 6th April. When the calendar was revised (Gregorian) the Chancellor at the time did not wish to miss out on eleven days of revenue

Which is why - if you have never noticed this - the Annunciation is celebrated on 25th March and the birth on 25th December.

So, in 2008, when Easter falls on 23 March and therefore Annunciation is on 31 March, will we celebrate Christmas on 31 December or shall we just pray for an early delivery? :twisted:

Does pregnancy and its term begin with conception or with implantation? If it is implantation then this may not have occurred until the 31st and so Our Lord may have been born prematurely anyway. Will this also affect St. John the Baptist's birthday. As Elizabeth was already in her sixth month then we celebrate His birthday on 24th June (three months minus 1 day from the annunciation). How regular were these biblical women! How sad is this!

So on the eighth day, counting 24th June as the first (Luke 1:59), John the Baptist is declared Prophet of God, the Most High. Does that mean Advent begins on 1st July? :shock:
