Jessie Monsivais sings Responsorial Psalms

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Friends,

To some, this may sound like a "cop out."

However, all I can really say is that I have tried to be obedient by following the text that American Bishops have prescribed for us to use.

As of a few months ago, we are now free to set the "Revised Standard" Grail for the Responsorial Psalm at Masses in the USA.

However, the USCCB Secretariat has stated that the Revised Standard Grail Psalms may not appear in Lectionaries for (perhaps) a decade at least. This is a real hindrance to using those texts . . .

Again, thank you very much for all your comments. "Keep 'em comin' . . ." :-D

Yes, you have been obedient to the US Bishops, but that doesn't mean that there is any point to trying to persuade other countries to use texts which they do not currently use, nor any point in promoting settings which are therefore not usable in those countries as they stand.

As far as the RPG (Revised Grail Psalter) is concerned, you can start using that version as soon as you want. It has been made abundantly clear on other forums by former staff members of the BCDW that, although these texts may not appear in any published lectionary for some considerable time, the permission to use and sing those texts in a liturgical context is already in force. So — have at it!
