New Psalm Book - full 3 year cycle

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

We plan to include a full review of this new book is in Music and Liturgy volume 36 number 2 (ie not the next issue, which is about to go to press, but the one after). That, however, is some way off. For the present, let me just say that, IMHO, the book is well-produced, almost entirely lacking in typos, and, above all, extremely accessible.

VML...
The texts used are the ones you will find in 'The Sunday Missal' - a new edition - Texts approved for use in England and Wales, Ireland and Scotland - Harper Collins publications. First published 1984 and reprinted in 1998.
Psalm texts from 'The Psalms' copyright 1963 The Grail (published by Collins).
They are the texts used over here all the time - They correspond to the lectionary used at all churches over here.
Does that answer your query? I think that falls into 'former'?

SC... c'mon, admit it - you left out the word  We will call it 1-1...
Did you ever have a look for typos in Laudate (my favourite hymnal)
Google 'Where is Waldo' (I think it is http://www.whereiswaldo.com) - Finding Waldo is like looking for the missing word or comma or full stop...

I think we may be talking about finding Wally - a series of books that kept my sons amused for hours trying to find a geek-like character (Wally) among thousands in pictures. All editors get my sympathy vote, having found a glitch in a plainchant realisation last night that has been proof-read at least 3 times by four different people, at least three of whom have sung the piece regularly - you tend to read what you expect to see rather than what is there!

Let's hope that all the references to 'Wally' in the psalter don't come out as 'Waldo'.

To be fair, I haven't spotted any yet.

Not having a clue as to what is being discussed here - I looked it up.
The USA might need a separate edition! (Not that they use the GrailPsalter)

The Where's Wally? trademark was adapted for 28 countries. The titular character readers were challenged to find acquired a different name in most localized versions. He became Charlie in France, Walter in Germany, Holger in Denmark, Willy in Norway, and Effy in Israel. The American version was Where's Waldo?

Actually, they do ─ in the Divine Office (but not in the Lectionary ─ crazy!). When Grail IV comes in, they will use it for everything, Mass as well as the Prayer of the Church. They're just waiting for the recognitio.

The things you learn in the SSG forum... where would we be without it!
My brother who works in Chicago sent the 'Waldo' version some years ago... now the penny has dropped! Thanks presbyter!

If Grail 4 is anything like Apple's Snow Leopard OS... run and don't look over your shoulder lest you turn into pillars of salt!
To all Mac buddies... if you are running leopard - DO NOT - I repeat - DO NOT upgrade to the snowey version... If you are running Finale, all your lyrics disappear. If you run Dreamweaver 8 - your flash button capabilities are flushed down the toilet. If someone out there knows a fix for this, I'm all ears! I know, off topic... sorry!

Now... Psalm book shop is open 24/7 :D

Yes, you are off-topic, but in response to your point about Finale: there have been problems with earlier versions, but - as I can attest - Finale 2010b is perfectly OK. Snow Leopard is a very fine OS, but, as with any OS upgrade on any platform, don't do it if you cannot upgrade your application software - especially that upon which you depend - or if the necessary upgrades do not yet exist.

Now, back to the psalms...

Seems that North Americans look for Waldo while we seek Wally... (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where%27s_Wally%3F)

The official Waldo website is actually at http://www.findwaldo.com/

So as not to be OT I invoke Psalm 139 as the obvious anthem of all Wal-hunters!

And if you cannot find him... O waly waly!
