Announcement: a new moderator!

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Does that last comment mean that I have had the pleasure (?) of seeing a moderator moderate a moderator?

Then again, docmatic (assuming that was the offending spelling) would have been a brilliant user-name for you, Doc. You should change your (user-)name by deed poll.

I'm very pleased to know that doc is now sharing the moderation responsibilities, but wonder why he still doesn't seem to have the word Moderator in grey under his name in the right-hand column. Perhaps it's something to do with the unforgiving nature of the bulletin board software that musicus cited elsewhere.

Yes, SC, I noticed that too, and I don't know why. Perhaps there is some software switch that admin has yet to flick.

You can't begin to appreciate how little sleep I'm losing over it :D

Delirious! But what on earth is doc's new avatar?! It seems to resemble something you'd see under a microscope. Or can it really be a scooby-doo? (And if so, why?)

It is something you'd see under a very powerful microscope. Its 6 millionths of a millimetre long and its the 'doc' bit of 'docmattc', so its a molecule I'm very fond of. I'm not sure about it as an avatar though, it might change.
