Simply, I suspect there may not be a lot of organ playing going on in many Liverpool parishes. (Now MIDI........ )

And I didn't know you had a connection with that church - it really was a random dip into the NPOR listings.

We'd love a lot more organ playing in Liverpool churches – but finding organists is a different matter.

I work across three churches. Two do not have organs and we'd make do with our lovely Clavinovas – but we can't find anyone to play those either.

The third church has a magnificent organ which is almost totally useless – it's too far away and too high up. We tried to use it one Easter Vigil with a two-way radio between me and the organist – it was still hopeless – the time lag made it impossible.

So we've spent £13,000 on an Allen digital organ which was installed at the front of the church two years ago – the sound is magnificent and there is no time lag problem.

So if you want to solve the situation which is causing you so much grief, find me a couple of organists for two of our churches, and the money to add an independent console to the organ in the third one.
