composers forum ... help
Can someone please contact the Convenor of the composers group to let him know that there might be a problem about the Sheffield meeting ... I think we fixed June 6 and our Bishop will be ordaining that day and the room we have assigned will be in use. It might be possible to re-site the meeting via docmatt but I am certain that it will be impossible for me to host this at the cathedral now.
I am currently in India until 23 Feb so please contact me on philjakob@hotmail.com or wait until I return to UK
Cheers

Will contact Thomas for you and investigate possibilities of reconvening at Chez moi, if agreeable to him. However I have 2nd May as the provisional date for this meeting. Leave it with me...

The home page has (very recently) the forthcoming meeting as February 28 - which unfortunately for me is already too short notice - but follow the link for details and it's October.
Where should I be looking for these dates?
Bemused, as ever

Re: composers forum ... help
Here is some clarification.
The next composers meeting is at Mount St Bernard Abbey on Feb 28th. Anyone is welcome to come. Just let me know in advance so that I have some idea of numbers. Details of directions etc are on the composers section of this website.
After that there is a meeting at Sheffield Hallam Cathedral. I thought I had set this up for May 2nd but evidently there has been some kind of muddle (probably my fault). When I have sorted this out I will come back with a confirmed date/venue for this particular meeting.
After that I have a meeting provisionally planned for July 11th at the Watermead Centre, Leicester.
I have not as yet planned a meeting for October, 2009.
If in doubt just contact me at t.e.muir@hotmail.co.uk

Re: composers forum ... help
Thomas, I am sure that the date you have will turn out to be the correct one. A brief convesration with my bishop just before I left for hot climes indicated that there would be a clash with the date we had chosen for the SSG composers meeting. I am without my diary here in India and therefore please accept that the error is probably mine but that the clash still remains.
I think the idea of taking up Matt's suggestion of relocation is a good one ... it's just that I will not be able to be there which I regret.
Will be back on Ash wednesday in order to confirm all this.

At last!
I have managed to confirm details of the next meeting. Here they are:
Date: May 30th, starting at 10.30 for 11.00 am
Place: Sacred Heart Church, Hillesborough, Sheffield.
Further details, including travel directions, are being posted up in the composers section of the SSG website. These have all been e.mailed to people on my list and letters will follow to those who depend on Royal Mail.
If they are any queries, and if you are thinking of coming, contact me at t.e.muir@hotmail.co.uk
Many thanks for your patience.

Dear fellow musicians,
You may have seen from another thread that my e.mail account was stolen. However, I did manage to send out all the details of the May 30th meeting in Sheffield mentioned above before this happened. The meeting then is still on. You will appreciate that, after this nasty experience, I am reluctant to set up a new e.mail account straight away. However if you wish to come could you please inform me by one of the following means. If you think these methods are secure please also leave me your telephone number as with many people I do not have this piece of information.

Re: composers forum ... help
It was pointed out to me today (actually I overheard a conversation in the lift!) that Sheffield's inner ring road layout is more modern than the software in many (all?) satnavs. If you're planning on coming to the composer's meeting on 30th May, please follow my directions here. This is especially true of you're coming in from junction 33 of the M1. I think all other routes are appropriately 'ancient'. Multimap.com doesn't seem to be showing the current road layout but Google earth is.
According to my colleagues in the lift, satnavs can take you into a closed loop down bus-only lanes and you may get fined for driving in a bus lane.
To travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive

I thought I might just put this up to the top of the list so that strangers to Sheffield can find there way round the one-way system. See the directions posted in the previous message.
