Grail Psalm 119

Does anyone have a Grail translation of psalm 119 they could let me see? I'm trying to set the verses to the Mandatum on Maunday Thursday but don't have the approved translation to hand.

Do you really mean 119? It is a bit of a curse. It starts:

To the Lord in the hour of my distress, I call and He answers me,
O Lord save my soul from lying lips, from the tongue of the deceitful.

If you mean 118 in Vulgate numbering, which is suggested by the Graduale Simplex, I'm sorry I haven't a copy of that, but it does go on for 176 verses, so you will not be short of material.

Yes I mean 118 Vulgate. "By flowing waters" suggests Verses 1,15,32,40,45,47,97,103,105,129, but the translation is NSRV which I'm not struck with.

You can find two chunks in the missal, they are the responsorial psalm for the sixth and seventeenth Sundays in Ordinary time, year A, if I can remember for the time it took me to walk the length of the house.

I have a copy of "The Grail Psalms - singing version" - but there appear to be other "versions", including at least "text only" and "inclusive language". Relying on Nazard's 176 verses pointer I guess it's the one numbered 118 in this book.

However, as it's just on midnight, and I've an impossible day tomorrow, and as I'm the world's slowest typist I can't react at once. If no better offer turns up in the meantime, (and if you could confirm that I'm targeting the right psalm) I'll try to get to it on Friday.

1 They are happy whose life is blameless,
who follow God's law!
15 I will ponder all your precepts
and consider your paths.
32 I will run the way of your commands;
you give freedom to my heart.
40 See, I long for your precepts:
then in your justice, give me life.
45 I shall walk in the path of freedom
for I seek your precepts.
47 Your commands have been my delight;
these I have loved.
97 Lord, how I love your law!
It is ever in my mind.
103 Your promise is sweeter to my taste
than honey in the mouth.
105 Your word is a lamp for my steps
and a light for my path.
129 Your will is wonderful indeed;
therefore I obey it.

While a clear thread runs through this, it does seem a slightly eccentric selection, and I think does violence to the psalm. Also it's a bit me-centred.

Thanks SC (and for the offer Gwyn). There was a line in the NRSV "You enlarge my understanding" which I particularly didn't like - we might increase understanding, but never enlarge it. Grail has "You give freedom to my heart". You wouldn't think they're both translating the same text.

It is 'me' centred but the antiphon is "I give you a new commandment, love one another..." so I interpreted these verses as a personal response saying how good it is to have, treasure, and apply these words of Christ.
