Libera

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Libera

Post by organist »

Anyone see the recent Songs of Praise about Libera? Well done but a bit startling to hear one of the boys say he did not know what the latin meant! Libera recently sang beautifully at Saturday evening mass at Westminster cathedral and I renewed my acquaintance with Bob Prizeman. Interesting that so many of the boys are R.C. and unusually for a visiting choir they came down to the altar for communion and processed in and out in robes. Why are these boys not singing in London catholic churches? Because there are so few choirs.

I wouldn't be startled to hear that. Few of us have studied Latin.
I went right through music college singing Schubert in German and Mozart in Italian and didn't understand a word of either language – alhough thanks to an elocution teacher my pronunciation was fine.
