Both my missals mention a lectern or a pulpit. I thought the ambo was reserved for the Word. Have we been getting it wrong all these years?

From the ambo only the readings, the responsorial Psalm, and the Easter Proclamation (Exsultet) are to be proclaimed; it may be used also for giving the Homily and for announcing the intentions of the Prayer of the Faithful.

I sit humbly corrected – although I suspect we'll still do it from the Paschal Candle where the PP sings it almost from memory.

And the reading are read in the light of the paschal candle/risen Christ both literally and metaphorically
