Joking aside

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Joking aside

Post by johnquinn39 »

Mea culpa. I had not intended my previous topic 'DT is my friend' to be entirely serious.

However, I think that there could be a serious problem with the image of the SSG, if people who do not know about our work actually
read 'Holy Smoke', and take it at its face value.

I don't think too much time should be spent trying to justify who we are.

If people search out the website to see how awful we are and all they find is us tut tutting then we have let down the Society!

Let's be judged for what we do and say.

I agree. Let's drop it.

Well, Edwina Currie and I wouldn't agree with you

But let's not sit back while they criticise us for what they perceive us to be. I don't wish to be chastitised like the puppy who is found next the broken vase and thrown into the snow while the cat, the real culprit, looks on smiling. Is that injustice or have I meandered into an episode of Tom and Jerry?

Blimey, blink and you miss things round here. What were you and Edwina up to, Nick?

My lips are sealed in case it implicates John Major.

No, really, it's good publicity, and probably very valuable. Might be good that Nick stood up for the SSG though... that is probably the betterer bit of the matter....... because where else is SSG getting mentioned? It's a free plug. And a better option than appearing as the amusing minority magazine on "Have I Got News for You". :?

That's kind of you Oops. It's a tricky one. Don't reply and you're convicted by your silence. Reply and expect to have every word torn apart by those who believe they know better.

Thanks SC. As I've said before, criticise us if you don't like what we do but don't criticise use for what you think we do.
