Martin Hall RIP

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Martin Hall RIP

Post by PaulW »

Martin Hall, former chairman of Society of Saint Gregory, died in his sleep last night. He was in his late 70s.

I do not know funeral arrangements yet, but will post here when I do.

Martin was I think our first non-clerical Chairman. Thank God for a good man. May he rest in peace.

Martin was a very special person always the same smiling and happy! I treasure his thought at an organ masterclass at summer school. When about to play something difficult say "St Cecilia pray for me". It really does work! St Cecilia is rejoicing over a good and faithful servant called to higher service. It was so good to meet John Ainslie at Westminster Cathedral Tenebrae and hear about a joyful funeral for Martin. We could not be there as we were singing Dvorak Requiem in Istanbul but we thought about him. May he rest in peace and rise in glory!

Thank you to Paul Wellicome for a fine obituary in Music and Liturgy which caught the man so well.
