Saint Of Our Youth

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Saint Of Our Youth

Post by asb »

A parishioner has given me a copy (words and music) of a hymn to St Stanislaus Koska, beginning "Saint of our youth! Thy heart to gain, earth spread her glittering toys to gain" The tune begins in d and ends in F. The parishioner would like to know if the tune has a name. can anyone help please?

Does it really rhyme "gain" with "gain"? (Maybe it was written by Edward Lear.)

You could improve on it by making the second line "earth spread her glittering toy steam train." Or something.

Is that "Saint of our young people" or "Saint of the days when we could run for a bus without risking a coronary" ...

I'll go and look him up (Naturally using the engine from which SSG benefits)
