If you were being received into the church as an adult, a young adult even, what music would make the occasion more memorable and or less scary? What would help?
uh oh!
In my experience, the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a wonderful combination of pastoral care and teaching (and learning, for the teachers among us) and rituals (rites) - all spread over quite a long period of time, but accelerating in the Lent leading up to the sacraments of initiation at Easter. There is a large body of excellent music for all stages of this process. I am snatching a momentary break at work to write this, but when I have more time, I will give some examples.
