Job Ad: Liturgical Musician(s) required...

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Job Ad: Liturgical Musician(s) required...

Post by mcb »

Liturgical Musician(s)
required for a flourishing Roman Catholic parish just south of Preston.

St Mary’s Brownedge is a beautiful E.W.Pugin church, carefully reordered, with a long musical tradition and a reputation for well-planned liturgy. The parish has been in the care of the Ampleforth Benedictines since 1780. Parish website: http://www.stmarysbrownedge.org.uk/

You would help to plan the liturgy on Sundays and Feast days, particularly the 11am Choir Mass. You would also contribute to the Music Group at the 9.30am Family Mass, and be heavily involved in special events in the parish.

You might be one person (combining choir direction and organist) or you might be a small team. In all we envisage a commitment of about 7 hours a week; the salary is by negotiation. In addition we have about 20 weddings and 50 funerals per year and additional stipends are normally available for these.

The annual week-long Brownedge Festival is based at the Church and has a substantial musical contribution. There is also the possibility of involvement with the parish Primary School and parish High School. We therefore require a CRB clearance.

Our 3-manual Eminent digital organ and Bechstein grand piano would be available if you wish to use them for instrumental tuition.

O ye foolish and ignorant men...

'bump' is a universal message board convention for when you want to promote a post up the pecking order, rather than allow it to fall off page 1 and out of view.

Regrettably, there is no easy way of demoting posts and consigning them to oblivion.

(Quite a timely definition, actually.)
