"Godhead here in hiding" is an obvious choice for next Sunday, but is it really suitable for Mass? Its really an adoration hymn.
What say you? (apart from that my planning for next Sunday should have been done by now!)
2nd Sunday of Easter
Moderators: Dom Perignon, Casimir
The reference to Thomas clinches it for me - so we'll be using it, as usual. Also, it's one of the great chant melodies - a 'good sing'.

2nd Sunday of Easter
Yes it's a must. We sang "Godhead here in hiding" during communion at the Westminster Chrism Mass and the priests obviously loved it. I wish we sang "O sons and daughters" more - it's a great tune and Anthony Greening did an excellent arrangement for the RSCM. Martin Baker has arranged it for the Vigil at Westminster Cathedral with the congregation singing the Alleluias and it really works! Happy Easter everyone and let's keep telling everyone that Easter goes on until Pentecost. In fact we are the Easter people so every Sunday is Easter for us!

It certainly is, we did it last Sunday morning and its making an appearance this morning as the psalm is set to that tune (from Psalite).

We are! I wish Catholics were known for our joy in the risen Christ, not for contraception and confession, or even whether or not we should sing more plainsong.
On the subject of Easter going on until Pentecost, over the last 3 years I've had to point out to 2 priests that extinguishing the Paschal candle after the Gospel on Ascension day was a practice that went out over 50 years ago

Quite so. I was greatly cheered, therefore, to read John L Allen's piece in this week's Tablet about Pope Benedict's very positive approach to the Faith.* Extremely encouraging!
And yes, we did sing Godhead here in hiding at Mass this morning. The people sang it very well, and four good people went out of their way to comment favourably on it, all believing it to be a new piece! They were surprised when I told them it was a chant melody, though a couple had a vague recollection of the 'Adoro te devote' text when I mentioned the Latin. Perhaps they used to sing it to a hymn melody.
