Parish Jubilee Mass

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Parish Jubilee Mass

Post by johnmac »

Hi - we have our parish jubilee mass coming up at the beginning of July and now that Holy Week is over and done with I'm trying to decide the music for this mass. Obviously I want a bit of everything : Children's, traditional, modern, contemporary. So far my list is rather limited:

TRAD
- The Churches One foundation
- Christ is made the sure foundation

CHILDREN'S
- We are the Church (Chris Walker)

MODERN/CONTEMPORARY
- Great is the power we proclaim (Chris Walker)

Can anyone give me any inspiration as to any other ideas? I obviously need to pick everything by the end of the week as I need to start teaching it to the congregation (and choir!). I'd also like a piece for the choir to sing in SA / SAB but don't have a clue - . . . I think my brain is just dead after the Triduum.

Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated!

Hail thee, Festival Day! (Number 634 in the English Hymnal) sung to Salve Festa Dies composed by Ralph Vaughan Williams (624 in the English Hymnal).

If you sing the Pentecost version on June 4th it'll still be both fresh and pleasantly familiar in early July.

Go on! You know you want to. We will be. :D

Is this the Mass of the Dedication of a Church - or the Mass of your Patron Saint - or............... ? It will help us to know which bits of the Lectionary and Missal to look at.
