Dear SSG members,
We have regular organists workshops in Leeds/Bradford area which are open to all. In the past few years, several reluctant keyboard players and pianists have begun study on the organ and started playing regularly for mass in their parishes. Group sizes are usually limited to a maximum of 20 given the limitations of the number of people its possible to get round an organ! The ages on the last session were from primary school age to mature citizen! If you would like to attend the next one then please ring me on 0113 244 8634. Mr Saunders has indicated that a degree of preparation would be beneficial, hence the advance notice. Details are below.
Many thanks.
Mrs Claudine Tat
In response to demand from participants on the last session, we are looking at some repertoire for organists.
Liturgical organ music of the grand siècle
Sun 11th June 2.30-4pm at Corpus Christi Church, Neville Road, Leeds
This organists training session will focus on French liturgical organ music. The session which gives hints and tips on the performance of French baroque music, some of the most useful, simple and practical repertoire available to parish organists.
Participants should come armed with "Francois Couperin - Two Masses for Organ" which is published in the good value Dover edition. It is hoped that each participant could prepare one or two short pieces of their choice from the "Messe pour les Convents." Many of these pieces do not require pedals and so suit organists from beginners to intermediate levels. To book your free place and learn something new, please telephone Mrs Claudine Tat at the music office on 0113 244 8634, or contact via email at music@leeds-diocese.org.uk
