We Proclaim Christ Crucified

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

We Proclaim Christ Crucified

Post by docmattc »

I came across Bob Hurd's "We proclaim Christ crucified" in his Lenten Journey book a couple of months ago (treated myself to a few collections post-Christmas) and wasn't at all keen, but I can't shake the tune and its really grown on me such that now I really like it, and it fits perfectly with 3rd Sunday in Lent's readings. Did it with the choir tonight and its a hit with them too. My only gripe is his referring to Sunday as the Sabbath.

Anyone else using it?

I hadn't come across it 'til you posted, since then I've web-searched and come across this link:
http://www.ocp.org/en/songsearch/viewsong.php?musicid=66391
Clicking on the little loudspeaker icon plays a snippet of we Proclaim Christ Crucified, I must say I'm very tempted to get a few satb copies.

Most of Bob Hurd's compositions are at least half decent.

It's a delight, Doc. Beauty in simplicity!

What a wonderful gift he has been given.

Be sure to sign up for this year's SSG Summer School, if you want to meet the man himself!

We'll be looking at how we maintain a welcome for God's Word and God's people, and how this must translate into concerted action in the world. Bob is one of our leaders this year, and will be involved in the talks and discussion, giving a workshop on how music ministry serves the Word, as well as seminar and repertoire sessions.

Seems like too good a chance to miss really.

Date for your diary - 31 July to 4 August - Worth Abbey in West Sussex.

Hope to see you there!
