On 20th March it will be 33 years since I first played the organ in my local church (I was 11 if you're doing the maths) and dropped the Parish Hymnbook on the swell.
This morning I managed to drop both volumes of Laudate on the digital piano. The parish priest simply smiled at the assembly and said: "I'll name that tune in 300 notes!" Much hilarity!
His brother said afterwards: "Do you two take it in turns for the major *beep* ups?"
Anyone else committed any major bloomers?

Re: Bloomers!!!!
I remember being a "hireling" organist at a church down in England playing only part time. I returned from my Easter holidays to play for the 2nd Sunday in the season of Easter. Nobody thought to tell me when I picked the hymns that a coachload of children from the local primary had been in an accident and several of them killed. My first indication of this was in the intercessions when Father spoke at length about the tragedy. I (marooned in a loft and separated from the hymn board by the whole length of the church) then had to play "This joyful Eastertide, away with sin and sorrow." It made me cringe and I thought about requesting a police escort out of the church.
