Dear SSG members
Can I draw your attention to the following page on the Westminster Diocesan website: http://www.rcdow.org.uk/liturgy/default.asp?library_ref=18&content_ref=593
It gives information of a public lecture being given by Cardinal Arinze at Westminster Cathedral on 1st April 2006.
All members of SSG are most welcome to attend.
Details of how to get a ticket are given there.
WIth best wishes

The texts of Cardinal Arinze's address and the other subsidiary presentations that preceded it are on the Westminster diocesan website (http://www.rcdow.org.uk)
The cathedral appeared to be full (seating-wise) for the lecture. Afterwards the Cardinal presided at Vespers and Mass, for which the music was led by Canticum Populi, the rebirth of the former Challoner Choir, enlarged to some 70 or 80 with additional volunteers for the occasion, and directed by Martin Baker. The music was almost entirely plainsong (some Latin, some English adaptations and, I suspect, new creations), except for some fauxbourdons of psalm verses sung by a schola from the cathedral choir. The overall musical style reminded me of Pope John Paul II's funeral just a year ago.
