Pentecost Vigil

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Pentecost Vigil

Post by High Peak »

I do believe that, for next year, I have persuaded the PP to use the extended form of the Pentecost Vigil Mass!! :D

However, I suspect that I may have a mutiny on my hands if we immediately introduce the full Extended Form. Can anyone tell me whether we are "permitted" to have, say, two or three of the OT readings with their Psalms, rather than all four - in a similar way that we are permitted to cut the number of readings at the Easter Vigil?

I have heard of (but have not been present at) celebrations of the Pentecost Vigil where they have had a reduced number of readings. I don't think there is any rubric permitting this, nor one forbidding it. It's just one of those things that people do. Personally, I'm just glad that they're making something out of the Vigil at all.
