REQUIEM IN LIVERPOOL

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

REQUIEM IN LIVERPOOL

Post by MARYFA »

Was anyone else as disgusted as I was by the car crash of Liturgical and Musical abuse on display at the funeral
of a pop-star in a Liverpool Catholic Church yesterday? The BBC web-site gave full details.
Is that Bishop a Catholic? Does he believe in the Real Presence of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament?
Time for prayer and fasting in expiation I think.

I didn't see the BBC version, but going on the list on the Mirror site:

An opening tribute - probably OTT (I didn't see it)

One inappropriate first reading - but the psalm, 2nd and gospel look ok.

Odd music during communion.

Most other bits in the list seem at least somewhat orthodox.

It could have been a lot worse.

A visit to this site and its comments might prove enlightening: www.catholiccollarandtie. Damian Thompson has
an interesting article on the same subject in this weeks Catholic Herald.
