It was good to see so many people at the various events of the Society's Winter assembly in London this weekend.
Those visiting Westminster Cathedral on Friday received a warm welcome from Martin Baker, the Master of Music, and had the privilege of attending a choir rehearsal prior to the evening Mass, and then afterwards had a very relaxed and informative tour of the 'music areas' led by the Cathedral's Organ Scholar, Ed Symington.
The next day began with an inspirational talk from Fr Francesco Donega speaking of the understanding of initiation which informs the liturgy and catechetical practice of the Neo-Catechumenal Way. After Mass at which Bishop Alan Hopes presided, there was a further stirring 'lecture' from Bishop Kieran Conry, reflecting on shifts in understandings of faith and the implications of this for evangelisation.
Those who were not able to attend will hopefully be able to read something more about the presentations and the event in the next issue of Music and Liturgy.
The details of next year's Winter Assembly will be confirmed shortly, after the next Trustees meeting.
Allen Morris.
