In quires and places....

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

LOL!

Tell me, did you ever actually get to the end of Mass? :-)

I once came across the opposite in a parish I lived in - we had just sung "Christ has died" (though not Paul Inwood's) and the priest launched cheerfully into "Let us pray with confidence to the Father in the words our Saviour gave us". He wasn't to be deflected, and battled on through mounting insecurity and incomprehension as half the congregation stood there smiling benignly and shaking their heads. When he finally cottoned on - perhaps someone told him during Communion - he ruled the Mass valid and we all got home early!

Pay attention, Gwyn

The post that started this thread was removed by its poster, but he reiterated the gist of it recently:

Merseysider wrote:So – all debates about the worthiness of different styles aside – may I now return to my original question: how do many of our cathedrals get away with ignoring rules/practice?

After consultation with the originator of this thread, I have decided to close it, as it is now terminally off-topic.

As Merseysider has remarked, with the exception of MCB, no-one has answered his question. Perhaps it is one we will dare to face up to on another occasion.

Easter greetings to all !
