Holy week (new missal)
Does anyone know how to access accompaniment versions of the following? :
'This is the wood of the cross ... ' (simple version)
Litany of saints

Re: Holy week (new missal)
Here's a simple one for you (see attachment). The arranger gives permission for its use.
So far as I can see, the Missal makes no mention of raising the pitch for the repetitions. Also - and I think this is new - we read "[The priest] is assisted in singing by the Deacon or, if need be, by the choir."

That chant is incredibly inelegant, isn't it.

The more elaborate alternative is better, certainly.

Sadly, yes. Not a patch on the 'Come, let us worship' in the old missalettes. Or Paul Inwood's (often requested) 'This is the wood of the cross'.
Re: Holy week (new missal)
Is this another of those new texts that has to be set and sung exactly as-is, or are versions such as
still permitted?johnquinn39 wrote:... Paul Inwood's (often requested) 'This is the wood of the cross'.

As I understand it, it's one of the mandatory texts.
Great shame! The Inwood always went down well in our parish.

And it avoids that laughable magicians rabbit out of a hat word, "Behold." There are some words that should only ever be spoken by Kenneth Williams, and that is one of them, along with "infamy."

I don't think most people have cottoned onto this subtlety. As mentioned in another thread, I know a substantial number of people who are going to use Schutte and Inwood this year, as usual. They are using their pastoral judgement.

This is the first time since 2003 that we won't be using Inwood – replacing it with a small piece of Baty. But right up to point when the service sheet was sent for printing I was having doubts. Just hope I've made the right decision – and that the PP learns it in time!
