Year of Faith
Well there must be something to say about the YOF in this forum.
Anyone doing anything in regard to Liturgy and Music?

Re: Year of Faith
All I know about it is what people are saying on here. But, to be honest, only found out about the Year for Priests when it was ending – and then because an elderly nun mentioned it over coffee and cake. So have had a look around. There's a list of what several dioceses are doing here.

Re: Year of Faith
No formal plans in our parish, but was chatting to the former deputy head of the local Catholic High school who said he would quite like to organise something. His plans included some sort of informal gatherings of folk somewhere other than church and reflections on passages from scripture, periods of silence, and 'worship songs'.
Might be interesting - I would rather draw on our rich heritage of sacred liturgy to help people more deeply understand the faith.

Re: Year of Faith
In my parish we are launching the year with a Vigil to the Holy Spirit on 11 October, followed by a series of monthly 'Faith Suppers' each based on an aspect of The Creed. These comprise a shared table followed by a film screening, discussion and Evening Prayer. Other ideas are being developed including Stations Masses, in people's homes around the parish, day pilgrimages and day retreats, with a pilgrimage to Rome and Assisi at the conclusion in 2013. Other ideas and suggestions are sought and will be considered and developed as the year unfolds.

Re: Year of Faith
Our parish is having a series of 3 days of recollection on different themes. The first is this month and is centred on Our Lady as a person of faith. While there will be mass and exposition I don't know how the music will pan out.

Re: Year of Faith
This thread has gone very quiet! So, how is the Year of Faith unfolding in your parish? I outlined what is planned in my parish in an earlier post. Another development is that our repository has stocked-up with some excellent quality hardback editions of the Catechism (at at a very reasonable £10) and the four recently republished Vatican II Constitutions.

Re: Year of Faith
Am no longer on the liturgy commission so tend not to hear things unless I seek them out.
Have now seen that it was launched in Widnes a couple of weeks ago.

Re: Year of Faith
I would have thought the Year of Faith would have been mentioned as underpinning the monthly Holy Hour of Faith called for by Archbishop Patrick.

Re: Year of Faith
As we haven't heard of the Year of Faith, we're unlikely to have heard Patrick's requests.
