Rights and Webcams

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Rights and Webcams

Post by Nick Baty »

There appears to be quite a growing number of churches broadcasting their services via webcam. For example: http://www.churchservices.tv/ The majority are in Ireland although http://mcnmedia.tv/ includes one or two in England. While we all know the rules about broadcasting copyright material, I was just wondering what others think about the practice – must admit, I'd hate to have every note scrutinised via the web.

Think we might be off topic! :( And anyone logging in a couple of hours later might see the presiding priest – who might not like being a "thing".

More seriously - I can see nothing here, as yet.

http://www.ccli.co.uk/licences/churches_licence-overview.cfm

The Calamus licence from Decani has nothing at all to do with broadcasting.

Apart from the unfortunate symbolism of the back of it, it resembles nothing so much as a commode....

I used to have an onion chopper that looked like that...Sometimes things that arrive in church are not progress, like the blue for Our Lady, red for the Blessed Sacrament votive plastic tea light holders we have to replace the standard votive stick candles that burnt away completely. The plastic bits are collected by the various sacristan assistants, repacked, then collected by the supply co. The seat of this chair matches that shape. As I said, not progress. Interesting to see what gets done in other church buildings, so web cams do serve some function.

Or every piece of church furniture (v.s.)

I recall that there was a thread on this forum some while past on that very subject. I don't believe that contributors came to a definitive conclusion on the precise nature of such rules. It seemed at the time that the law was less monochrome than certain licensing bodies suggested.
