Organ Scholarship - Westminster Cathedral

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Organ Scholarship - Westminster Cathedral

Post by keitha »

A plug! The Cathedral is about to start auditioning for a new organ scholar. It is looking to recruit a Catholic postgraduate with at least ARCO. Worth £4,326 par annum and full board and lodging provided. Applications close on 16th December - see http://www.westminstercathedral.org.uk/music_news.php

Are there some young Catholic organists about then? Good to know!

Many years ago, when I asked David Flood about ARCO he very wisely, in view of my lack of ability, told me not to waste my money

If the inland revenue want to charge income tax on the value of the board and lodging, £4326 pa might not cover it.

Income tax is not an issue. It is a very sensible requirement of the job that the organ scholar resides at Clergy House. In those circumstances the provision of accommodation is not a taxable benefit.
