Hats off to Philip Jakob!

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

Hats off to Philip Jakob!

On Sunday, the choir / music group will be singing 'Always in your presence' as the communion psalm. (I hope that other parishoners will join in the refrain.)

What a terrific piece of music - great stuff!

Thanks .. that's kind of you.

It was written for the first National Catholic Choirs Festival at Southwark Cathedral a few years ago. The choir really comes into its own for the SATB final verse using a metrical version of the 'Adoro te devote' melody. Most folk use only the refrain but I'm pleased you have discovered the rest. The refrain is a compilation of phrases I remember Gerry Hughes SJ repeating throughout a 3-day Easter conference in Shrewsbury Diocese. i learned recently that it's also been included in the new Methodist hymnal.

Best of luck on Sunday!
