Re: PANEL decisions
Sod the Panel – do you, Presbyter, find the first example acceptable? Because I don't. (But I'm an old git!)
(Interesting that this site allows "sod" but not "*beep*"!)

Not really a question of my judgement - no point in offering an opinion.
I have concrete proof of acceptance on my desk - a printed proof I have been reading. It's even got a Nihil Obstat.

Re: PANEL decisions
Well that rather opens the floodgates.
What next? Israeli Mass revised?
I've been looking at one which has "Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, Lord God of hosts". Rather puts Alan29's comma into the shade.

Presumably panel approved?
This one is panel approved too:
Holy, Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, Holy Lord, Holy Lord God of hosts......
Panel decisions seem as clear as mud.
Re: PANEL decisions
Presumably they're making a musical judgement about the melody carrying the words.
But, hang on a minute .......

I offer the Israeli Mass revised
Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Kyrie eleison.
Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Kyrie eleison. etc…
Holy, Holy, Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna, hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Ho-
-sanna, hosanna, hosanna, hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest.
We proclaim your, we proclaim your, we proclaim your Death, O Lord,
and profess your Resurrection until you come, you come again.
When we eat this, when we eat this Bread, this Bread and drink this Cup,
we proclaim your Death, O Lord, until you come, you come again.
Save us, save us, save us, save us, save us Saviour of the world,
for by your Cross and Resurrection, you have set us, set us free.
Lamb of God you take away the sins, the sins of the world,
have mercy on us, have mercy on us, have mercy on us, *Lamb of God.* etc…
* * For 'traditionalists' sing Agnus Dei here instead of Lamb of God.
Go on someone - submit it.
Why do I feel that the panel would approve this?
Don't ask me to post a notated version, puhleeeeeze.

In which case I will appeal and cite the 1948 Missal (Imprimatur, Nihil Obstat Diocese of Leeds) as a precedent - so as to contribute to case law.

Re: PANEL decisions
So does that mean I can do the Sanctus from Missa Papae Marcelli on Sunday?
Totally scrumptious!

Only if you give the congregation kazoos so they can buzz along to it.

Re: PANEL decisions
On Pray Tell blog - 13th August
This cannot be true as a general policy of the Panel, surely. I sit here staring at Christopher Walker's In Pace Acclamations, that are wholly responsorial. They are approved by the Panel and also by ICEL and they are published. I have used these at two diocesan occasions in the cathedral in recent weeks and they work very well. I hope Paul is going to re-write his G minor set to the new texts......so useful for occasions where a mixed assembly has no common repertoire.

Not at this time of year, they don't. Martin Foster is apparently on holiday, even though others are not and are working their socks off, and it appears that no replies are being received from the Liturgy Office at all. If the whole process comes to a standstill just because one person is on probably well-deserved leave, then there is something very wrong somewhere. There seems to be a need to delegate lurking behind all this.

Begs the question as to why Martin is carrying the can for so many things alone and there has been no Secretary appointed.

Yes, it appears that the whole place is at a standstill. Not, of course, the fault of the staff of the Liturgy Office but a result of serious underfunding. Worth remembering when various blogs are wittering on about the money pouring into Eccleston Square. In reality, the whole thing is run on a shoestring.
