The New Texts: Events for Parish Musicians (announcements)

Well it does to the people who post here... dispassionate and reasoned debate, with a good deal of humour thrown in for good measure.

The ‘New Wine’ Mass will be recorded in the Memorial Chapel of Mount St Mary’s College on Thursday 16 June with singers from the College and the Primary Schools of St Marie, St Wilfrid and Our Lady & St Thomas.

AREA FORMATION OPPORTUNITIES

There will be two opportunities in various venues around the Diocese to look at the music for the revised texts of the Mass. We will look at Philip Jakob’s ‘New Wine Mass’, revised settings of Haugen’s Mass of Creation and Farrell’s Eucharistic Acclamations and the Missal Tones. These sessions are open to all who sing/play at Mass (that’s most of us folk!) including those who cannot make the sessions closer to their own parishes.

The following workshop events start at 7pm and finish at 9pm and are open to any who have an interest in supporting the singing of Mass

By the way..... I'm going to be encouraging priests to come to the workshops, not just musicians.

This forces me to break my silence.

26 November?

New Order in use from September?

B***** typical !

This has reminded me to go and search the kitchen cupboards for my chocolate teapot.

No chocolate until after the easter Vigil, Hare - fasting time ;)

More seriously - there are three dioceses here attempting a blanket covering of their areas with workshops. Perhaps also one more diocese, whose responsible-for-music person does not post here.
Three or four dioceses putting on one day events? It's all a bit piecemeal, don't you think?

Perhaps more news could be posted here, lest our Bishops become depressed. Let's cheer them up for their Low Week meeting.

No disrespect intended to those dioceses who have their act together.

I am in Southwark Archdiocese and this does not surprise me.

A couple of weeks ago my PP (we are in Southwark Archdiocese) said he was planning to run some formation for parishoners in July/August and asked me to cover the music aspect - so it looks as though some parishes are ahead of Southwark's game. I don't understand why its taking them so long - see an earlier post of mine hoping there would be an event at Canterbury.

With but the gentlest animadversion to my opening post, please continue any discussion on the Formation (discussion) thread. This is purely in order to avoid losing event details in a sea of discussion.
