Well, one sees signs of life on the Decani website but nothing yet on the Mayhew or McCrimmon sites about settings of the new texts.

I do hope that there will be British settings in the pipe-line for publication. Very sad if we are just going to turn to the USA - OCP, GIA, WL etc.

My browser has just failed to find the Magnificat Music website - perhaps it is being reconstructed with news of new settings imminent? I hope so.

Especially as the US settings look a tad naff!

Last I heard, the numbers for Salford were running at about half the London number, but (for some reason) with a greater concentration of religious and a couple of friendly cathedral music directors. (What other kind are there? ) It's good (and startling) to know there are so many composers out there.

I find this very hard to believe, given the North/South divide.
The North is full of incredibly creation people while London is full of Southerners.

So, between North and South, given that all will have written a minimum of one setting, we're looking at more than 75 settings of the new translation. 'Twill be fun working out what to use!

Well, I can confirm there are over 50 people signed up for the London Seminar and 30 for Manchester. They're not all composers, Nick! There are several parish MDs and others who are interested in the process. I'm sure that all those who are coming will learn something of benefit.

Although the deadline for booking a place passed a little while ago, I can find room for a few stragglers, provided they contact me in the next day or two.

A term originating in Yorkshire that describes a sum of liquid greater than a drop being emitted from a funnel or dispenser. Usually describing vinegar.

I believe there was a textual variant in the rubric pertinent to the parish of Pogmoor. It read "Priest now slates people....."

However I do not think that aspersions - liquid or otherwise - will be on the agenda on 19th March, even though the ICEL music page offers Vidi Aquam in English translation.

Glad I went.

Much clearer in my mind now as to how the anonymous panel making the assessments works.

Thought Paul Inwood was very brave - and very modest - to show us examples of his music that had been accepted and examples that had been rejected.

Good input from all speakers.

The different approaches to through-settings of the Glory to God were very interesting and beneficial.

Thank you to all who organised the day.

Wish I could go to Salford next week too but I can't.
